The city of Napa is the southern most part of the Napa Valley proper. Napa could be considered the “big” city. There are large box stores and small family owned businesses. There is a revitalized downtown with fine dining and shops along the Napa River. There are many tree-lined streets with Victorian Homes and sense of community. The Napa area also has two golf courses including the Silverado Country Club and the Napa Valley Country Club. Lest we forget there are many vineyards and rolling hills in Napa as well. There are multiple micro-climates producing top quality fruit of all types. Vineyards closer to San Pablo Bay will provide excellent Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Carneros Appellation. Meanwhile excellent Cabernet Sauvignon comes out of the warmer Coombsville area, one of the valleys best known secrets.
